What to Expect During Your Affirm Laser Treatment

Affirm laser is an outpatient treatment that can usually be completed in 30 minutes or less. Before treatment, your skin will be cleansed. Because Affirm is non-ablative, topical or injectable anesthetic is rarely necessary. Once you’re ready, your laser specialist will use a handheld device to apply laser energy to your skin. 

During treatment, it’s common to experience a slight stinging or prickling sensation, but most patients tolerate the experience just fine. Immediately following treatment, some redness or swelling is common, but this should subside in less than 48 hours. To get the best results, we usually recommend that our patients undergo three to five treatments, spaced about a month apart.

After Your Affirm Laser Treatment

Affirm laser treatments cause less damage to the skin than many other laser resurfacing treatments, which means you’ll require little to no downtime. Most patients go back to work and normal routines right away while others choose to take a day off. 

Your skin will be very sensitive to sunlight during after treatment, so you should apply sunscreen as a post-treatment precaution. Some patients see results after their first treatment, but dramatic improvement in your skin will gradually appear over the course of several sessions.
